Theresa Williams became a disability rights advocate after she was admitted to Goldwater Hospital. She is currently a member of Open Doors.

OPEN DOORS invests in the creativity and leadership of Black and Brown wheelchair users and inspires action for safer, more just communities. Led by the voices and experiences of the Reality Poets, we are a collective of disabled artists, nursing home residents, advocates, and allies. OPEN DOORS is a project of the Center for Transformative Action–a 501(c)3 affiliated with Cornell University.
